The Sistah Girls Holiday Gift Guide

Sistah Girls, the holidays are here! Everything about the holidays makes me smile, from the movies to the holiday-themed books, this time of year really lifts my spirits.

However, there is always that one Sistah Girl, (I’m probably her) who loves books but you don’t just want to give her a book for Christmas and that’s it. She may be a simple Sistah Girl who loves a good mug and a book or the bougie Sistah Girl who loves wine with her books.

I’ve put together a small list of Black-Owned brands that have some amazing items that will surely make great gifts for your bookish Sistah Girls.

Book Sleeves by Monica Reeds

Monica is a book blogger (Montable Book Reviews) who also is super creative, she makes her very own book sleeves that are designed with us in mind. I have purchased the first book sleeve below and I LOVE IT. If you are part of a book club or you know a Sistah Girl who enjoys reading, she is going to loveeee one of these book sleeves.

Schomburg Center Mugs

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture is not only one of the most amazing libraries in the world, but they also have the Schomburg Shop that’s filled with books and other bookish items to purchase. They have their own line of mugs (I own three) that have some of the best quotes from black writers and creators.

McBride Sister Collection

We all have that one Sistah Girl who loves wine, I personally don’t know much about wine other than the dessert wine is sweet. Oh, and I found out I like Sauvignon blanc–go figure!

But if you want to buy the bougie Sistah Girl a cute bottle then the Black Girl Magic collection will definitely do the trick!

A Book’d & Blessed Planner

Every year I get excited to buy a new planner but what tends to happen, midway through the year I stop using it. I can’t tell you what it is but after college, I’ve never used my planner for the entire year. So this year, I decided to get a planner that was designed with me in mind. My theory: because the planner reflects me I will be more inclined to use it.

I ordered this planner over Black Friday weekend to get it before the new year begins, this is my first planner from Book’d BUT I love that they thought about black women and girls.

This Is My Year journal by Myliek

If you know me then you already know that I live for a Myliek gem. She’s the owner of Curlbox, a monthly subscription box for women with naturally curly hair.

Aside from making sure black women and girls have the best products for their hair she gives great business advice to women via her podcast and social media handles. I’ve been following her so long that I have the very first journal she dropped and have since purchased a few more.

I just ordered (last night) this specific journal because a new decade is coming and I will be prepared. This is a journal that any Sistah Girl would love.

A Headwrap from The Wrap Life

I have purchased more than a few headwraps from The Wrap Life and I love each and every one of them. I have worn my headwraps when I had bad hair days, I’ve worn them when I wanted to look cute with a headwrap, and when I was being lazy and didn’t feel like doing my hair.

I have folded and worn my headwraps as headbands and watched all their YouTube videos on styling a headwrap. Plus it doesn’t hurt that they are Brooklyn based (Spread love it’s the Brooklyn way). This is a great gift that will keep on giving.

Fast Face by The Lip Bar

I have been in love with The Lip Bar since their products dropped, I’m an OG, I have the lipstick pen they used to give out with their products okurrr.

The Fast Face is literally for the Sistah Girl on the go who wants to look cute without all the hassle. You have all the products you need to give yourself a beat in a timely manner. Pair this with her favorite book and you’ve won in 2019!

Kashmirviii

I love anything that is reminiscent of the 90s, my favorite Hip-hop artists and television shows that I watched growing up all came from that era.

Kashmirviii products hit all the happy points in my brain, you can usually always find a white 90s television show on a shirt or a boy band but you usually can’t when the cast or group is Black.

Kashmirviii has musical artists, television shows, and black art that all go perfectly to give as a gift to a Sistah Girl during the holidays.
