Danielle Allen is a Black contemporary romance author who has penned 30 books to date (she’s currently working on one right now so that number will change). I ran smack dab into Allen’s work when I read Work Song, the story is what Black romance novels are made of and it’s my favorite novel from her (it needs to be turned into a movie).
Since then Allen has kept me and all of her readers on the edge of their seats to see what she drops next. She pens full Black love stories that you get googly-eyed over while addressing real issues.
I got the chance to have a conversation with Allen in celebration of #BlKIndieAuthorsDay, we talked about everything, from her journey to hit publish, managing being an independent author, life coach, and professor, to what she wished she knew before she became an author.
