Many people still believe that Black Contemporary Romance is dry, lovey-dovey, and predictable genre to read. But it’s quite the opposite, within the genre, there are different tropes and storylines that are simply amazing.
I have created a list of black contemporary romance novels that all fall under black romance but each possesses a unique storyline that I enjoyed reading. Some are newly discovered writers who’ve made an impression on this avid reader.
For the record, I take novels very seriously.
To my credit; I read 565 books last year. I would be considered an expert in most industries. In my view, I’m just a lady who loves books and loves to share my findings with book-loving friends.
If I’m looking for a book to make me laugh and have a romantic comedy experience, here are four authors to consider.
Phyllis Bourne does a masterful job of making readers laugh and enjoy a well-told story. Feud, is her latest release. Also, try The Hot Mess Series. The series will have you in stitches.
Reon Laudat is another author who tells a quirky, funny story which you will have laughing-out-loud moments during the story. Welcome to Mistywood Lane, is very funny, and What a Girl Wants, was just as much fun as the previous title.
Ashley Nicole’s, Love in the Streets, is funny and sexy. I love a man in or out a uniform… Swoon!
Nicole Falls keeps us laughing with her Accidentally in Love Series, the books will have you rolling on the floor.
Readers looking for a sweet hot love story might want to check out author Chencia C. Higgins. Her latest book, To Buy a Vow, was terrific.
Another author who tells a great love story is Tia Kelly, The Love Sessions Series, s an excellent place to start discovering her works.
Folks like myself who love sports-themed love stories will enjoy Alexandria Warren’s, In His Corner, this is an excellent story for the sports genre.
Also, check out the Connecticut Kings sports/love series by Co-authors Christina C. Jones and Love Belvin.
For Hot, Sexy, and Steamy, you’ll want to select a book by Aja. Her latest novel Good Old Soul was a May-December romance with a spicy flavor.
Other’s might enjoy another sexy story by Te` Russ called Runaway Love.
For readers who like a continuation series newcomer, Grey Huffington, debuted a bang-up three-book series starring sisters Syx and Sevyn. Loved their names by the way…Their stories were well-done. Syx and the City Situationship Books 1-2, and Syx Thirty Seyvn.
AC Taylor’s, Everything Series Book 1 and 2 is another superb series. I’m ready for the next story.
Friends to Lovers stories always make my day- Christina C Jones’s, Inevitable Conclusion and Inevitable Seduction always makes my list of great FTL stories. As well as Enemies to Lovers in the latter story.
Another great addition to that genre- B. Love’s, In Due Time. The story- wow! It’s exquisitely written about friends and their struggle to become lovers after all was said and done.
When readers are looking for a not so typical love story, two authors are my go-to choices.
Sabrina ELB Scales writes about very emotional stories that will grip your heart and hold you captive. Her latest series is called, The Bricks–You’ll laugh, cry, and cheer as you read each story.
Danielle Allen also writes about love with a different point of view. She teaches us to look at ourselves and examine a story with more introspection. Broken Clocks and Disasters in Dating Series were two masterfully written works of art. Neither books could ever classify as typical.
The End…. is never the ending of a great story!
