No Holds Barred (In the Heart of a Valentine Book One) by Stephanie Nicole Norris

Page Length: 258

Sistah Girls Book ClubHey Sistahs!

After falling completely in love with Stephanie Nicole Norris’ Falling for a Rose series I came in with high expectations for The Valentine’s. While I wasn’t disappointed, I wasn’t exactly thrilled either I was just content per say. Again my expectations were high.

The book often times read slow but the timeline moved rather quickly. It moved so quickly that many of my questions although addressed weren’t fully answered. But in that same token, I would continue the series of these six brothers.  So let’s hop right into the schematics of No Holds Barred.

When we first meet Camilla she has uprooted her life and taken a position at a Chicago news station WTZB. We find that she has just come out of an on again off again relationship.

Following her womanly intuition gut, she knew that in order to fully get away from her past she needed to get as far away from it as possible, but that doesn’t stop the calls from coming.

On the first day of her job after getting ready for work she snoops on her neighbor albeit not on purpose it happens and she’s not able to shake the baritone of his voice.

As kismet would have it, the very same morning we are introduced to Hunter. After spotting a brown skinned beauty in a crowded restaurant following his gut and a strong desire to know this beauty he approaches her table. This is where things get interesting.

They share a highly sensual breakfast that sends Camilla off running and Hunter left thinking what in the world just happened. After all, he is Chicago most eligible bachelor, always a woman on his arm but never in his heart.

After gathering his barrings and not being able to catch up with Camilla fate steps in and makes it so that Camilla would have to seek him out.

Thus begins the case of a relentless pursuit of the chase and get your girl. Although both Hunter and Camilla aren’t sure what exactly is happening between them a news broadcast makes it clear to everyone but them that they are smitten with one another.

That very same broadcast is what sends trouble knocking on Camilla’s door. We are then forced to ask ourselves can Hunter or Camilla handle that? The answer is quite simple, absolutely, when love comes everything else is secondary and must be taken down.

Overall I give this novel 4.5 stars. Although the characters met their end goal my expectations were set high due to being a fan of the Falling for a Rose series. It was slow at times but made up for it in the end.  I do see great things coming from this series so I would recommend everyone to follow the Valentine’s journey.

Happy Reading & Many Blessings,

B. Lynette
