Fall is a great time to curl up with a few good books and snuggle in for some reading pleasure.
A hot Black romance novel and a toddy are just what a girl needs on a comfortable evening. I’ve compiled a list to get you started on your next reading adventure.
So snuggle up with something hot and add these books to your TBR list…
Learning to Love Again by Riley Baxter
This story was lovely, sexy, and just the right book to start your romantic journey.
Nalani was a resolute schoolteacher who happened to be Lorenzo’s daughter’s teacher. Lorenzo is a hot single father, rearing his lovely young adult daughter.
As always, there is an ex-wife and of course you can expect some ish from her when it comes to trying to come in between Nalani and Lorenzo. She did not want him, and yet she does not want him to be happy. Well, no one cares what she thinks. Nalani was the best choice for London and Lorenzo. In this story, love prevailed.
Rounds: Love In Scrubs by Monica Walters
If you have never read a book by Monica Walters, this book would be a great place to begin your journey through her catalog.
Who doesn’t love a medical romance series? Black medical professionals looking for their perfect match and experiencing the best possible love… sign me up! Okay, that is not the entire premise for the story, but it is close enough for me. The doctor was dark chocolate, and he knew how to handle his business.
Dream Cum True (The Cum Series Book 5) by Kay Shanee
I am sure you can gather from the title that each book in this series is about pleasure and pleasing acts of kindness. We have a single mother finding love after her not-so-great marriage ended.
When Karla attended her friend’s wedding in Punta Cana, she met Elias Jentry. Although Elias planned to take time away from his troubles, he became the man desperate to get the girl after their one evening of pleasure. Their island fling will become more than a thing; you can quote me on that statement.
Blake University: HBCU Chronicles Shiloh & Dreux by Juri Hines
Juri Hines is new to me, and I really enjoyed this story. It’s about a college English professor and one of his students. Now, let me stop you before you go too far off track. Shiloh is divorced, and Dreux is widowed. And both are full-fledged adults.
Shiloh recognized Dreux had talent; he praised her skills and soon became a mentor to his prized student. You will learn a cute little tidbit about his daughter and her roommate. But anyway, Shiloh and Dreux develop a deeper relationship, much to my joy and delight.
Do not forget, they are both grown.
Salt & Pepper by Jsin Graham
Salt & Pepper is a romantic episode about two people finding their balance, connection, and synergy together. This story gave Houston, TX, props and appreciation for the southwestern lifestyle.
Chris moved from D.C. to Texas, where he met Nia. In their story, the love flows easily. Her struggles are his, and they triumph together. Although they were salt and pepper, they produced sugar on the side.
In The Safety Zone: Desperados Book Seven by Dandridge Monroe
There is no safety zone in this story. I suggest that you read at least book six to follow this story. To be real, it is best if you read the first six books.
Capiesh Anthony was one of the star players for the Desperados. His mother wore greed like a badge of honor. I hope you noted the nasty tone when I spoke about her. And sadly, Aphrodite had a comparable situation with her parents. Her father was a former tennis star living off his daughter’s career and finances.
When the pair met, they shared a common desire to be free. The book reads like a good television show; it definitely gave Shonda Rhimes vibes.
An Innocent Hostage (The Sorority Detectives Book 2) by Deborah Fletcher Mello
This story was a different kind of religious drama. FBI agent Marcel Brossard was an undercover agent on an assignment to bring down a religious cult.
His plan became urgent when he learned his daughter was set to be trafficked. In his urgency, he reached out to his ex-girlfriend to help him rescue his daughter. Now, I know you are thinking, Why would he do that?
Here is a hint: she knew a few things about the religious cult, and her family connections would be helpful. There is a deeper story between Marcel and Alexis Martin that reveals their past relationship. The story was a slow burn with a happy conclusion.
Or Forever Hold Your Peace by Tina Martin
Or Forever Hold Your Peace is a sweet love story, a friends-to-lovers story too. That is one of my favorites.
Samir Reed was best friends with his best woman. Chantelle and Samir have been friends since childhood, as next-door neighbors. Somehow, they never acted on their attraction until he was about to marry his girl Eva. The story is brief, so there are no spoilers here. Because the right couple was together in the end, this ending was perfect for me.
Aug by Grey Huffington
One of the favorite things about Grey Huffington is the way she tells a story. This story is a novella, and if you like longer stories, dont fret because it’s a complete story.
August was the man who fell for Tiana and vowed to keep her safe. He showed up and showed us he could be what Tiana served. He was intentional about her. We first met her in Rome’s book (The Ballerina). Y’all are going to eat this book up, it’s sooo good.
Resonant Solace (Resonance Book 2) by Tiye
A book about music and the history of music is bound to be an enjoyable read. As a history lover, Resonant Solace had just enough history to make me happy.
The second book adds to the soulfulness and highly romantic love story in part two. Sophie was a local performer who walked away from the music scene to gather herself. Nathan was the author of the first story about Stony and his contribution to Black writers in Country music (Rifts and Refrains).
This time, he was on the same course that would collide with Sophie’s heart and hopefully restore her desire to perform again.
Sistah Girls, Fall is a great excuse to wrap up in a blanket and read a steamy book. What romance books will be keeping you warm this season?
