The story follows Leanna Martinez, a smart, independent woman who is trying to find her way in the world. She is drawn to Damian Reed, a charming and successful entrepreneur, but she is hesitant to get involved with him for several reasons.
One being his financial status–the man is rich and the owner of the company she gets her first job at. Juicy right? Not the boss but the owner! As they get to know each other, Leanna and Damian begin to fall in love, but they must overcome their differences and their pasts in order to build a future together.
Banks does an excellent job of developing a world that leaves you wanting more and with twists and turns you don’t see coming. Her characters have depth and dimension however parts of the plot could have been flushed out more.
Leanna is a strong and independent woman who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Damian is a complex character who is trying to overcome his past and find redemption. The two characters are classic when opposites attract, with a mix of player bachelor, meets sweet inexperienced girl.
The plot makes the book fast-paced, intriguing, and best of all spicy baby!
Throughout the entire story, I was playing the guessing game when it came to figuring out if Leanna and Damian would overcome their differences and find their way to each other. The story is full of twists and turns, and I honestly did not see the climax coming.
A Time to Lose is an enjoyable read for lovers of contemporary romances. It’s a story about love, loss, redemption, and second chances. This book will make you laugh, root for the characters and leave you fanning yourself–the spicy scenes are extra spicy.
