Void by Kaye Lovett

Sistah Girls, there is a trigger warning at the beginning and I highly suggest you read it before you start the book. If you are okay with it and proceed, you are in for a ride.

I read this book in one sitting, staying up until 3 am to finish. It was that good. Void is a story that follows Taylor Ross-Gains. She is trying to balance life being a wife and mother with a newborn, while also having a career.

You know the saying, you can plan all you want and then life happens–and that’s just what happens with Taylor. And with Taylor’s husband working long hours and just needing a break from the everyday hustle and bustle of life, the couple decides they need a nanny.

In comes Keith, a male nanny. Taylor has reservations about him but he blows her away with his resume and the way he interacts with her children. Keith seems like the perfect guy but there are secrets he has hidden that he hasn’t properly dealt with and could potentially affect his job.

As the story progresses so does the drama. Secrets are revealed on both sides which causes a domino effect of bad situations to arise. Keith is not only the nanny to the children but he becomes the friend Taylor didn’t know she needed.

There are lessons to be learned from this book. One is, therapy is your friend. Don’t be afraid to get help especially after suffering from a traumatic experience. Be honest with others.

Make sure you make your intentions known in any relationship. Also, communication is key! If everyone would have communicated better, things would have turned out totally different for them.

This is Kaye Lovett’s first published book and if she keeps up writing like this, she will be a household name in no time. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us.
