In 2006, Miasha Coleman hit the literary streets hard when she released her debut novel Secret Society. The story was so good it had major publishing companies in a bidding war.
But before Coleman got her two-book six-figure publishing deal she was a college student at Temple University with big dreams of becoming an author and filmmaker.
Hailing from Philadelphia, the multi-hyphenated businesswoman did not allow her environment to determine her path, instead, it fueled her passion for storytelling. With a big imagination and a mighty pen, Coleman penned novels that resonated and entertained the masses.
In 2021, Coleman bet on herself when she turned her novel (Secret Society) into a movie. The film did so well that it became a series, and with each installment, Coleman’s fanbase continues to grow.
I got the chance to talk to Coleman; we discussed in great detail how she went from a college graduate with dreams of being a writer to landing a six-figure two-book deal that would become the story that launched her career in the film industry.
