Black Romance Novels To Kick Off Spring

Sistah Girls, I was born in the spring—so naturally, it’s my favorite time of year. The weather is just right: not too hot, and you’re less likely to sweat out your edges after a day in the city (yes, that matters!)

So in the spirit of the season, I’m springing into action with this listicle. You’ll find a little bit of everything…

And Then There Was Passion (Hanson Family Book 2) by Asia Monique

The story is part of a series, and let me say, this one and the previous book were worth my time. June Hanson is the star this time alongside her boo Calix Moore.

This was a beautiful love story with lots of emotional moments. The couple’s one-night stand turned into a lovely relationship you will enjoy.

The Hanson family dynamics gave readers a glimpse into close-knit familial relationships. The unique, differing epilogues at the end were a heartwarming treat.

Just Right: A Why Choose Romance: Bliss Peak (Book 1) by Shon

From the first page, I was laughing out loud—I knew I was in for a good time. Here’s the wild premise: a man breaks into someone’s home and eats way too much of their food. Sounds ridiculous, right?

It gets better. He passes out from a full-blown food coma and wakes up staring down the barrel of a gun. Deserved.

But here’s where the romance kicks in. This story is a clever, modern remix of the classic Goldilocks fairytale. The homeowner? Her name is Goldyn. And the “three bears?”

They’re actually three male co-hosts who bring even more personality to the story. Trust me, you have to read it to fully appreciate Shon’s sense of humor and creative spin on a childhood classic.

I Accidentally Hooked Up with a Vampire (Accidents Happen) by Jessica Cage

This fantasy vampire romance was equal parts cute, sexy, and supernatural fun.

After Whitney Harris loses her job as an art broker, she’s scrambling to keep up with her brand-new mortgage. Enter Domino—a seductive vampire who turns one steamy night into something far more complicated.

Suddenly, Whitney finds herself caught in a battle between good and evil, and Domino is determined to protect her and the mysterious gift she possesses.

Y’all, this story had me cracking up. The blend of romance, humor, and bloodsucking drama was delightful!

No Reservations: A Novel of Friendship by Sheryl Lister

You won’t need a reservation to enjoy this heartfelt and emotional story. It’s a beautiful reminder of the power of sisterhood and the depth of true friendship.

Yvette, Joy, Diane, and Rochelle—four lifelong best friends—plan a getaway to Jamaica to honor the memory of one of their own. Yvette organizes the trip as a final farewell, and from there, the story unfolds into a moving journey of healing, freedom, and rediscovery.

As the women confront old wounds, unexpected revelations, and new connections, their bond is tested and strengthened. In the end, they embrace life with open hearts—choosing to take chances, let go, and live with no hesitations… and no reservations.

The Best Woman by Bree Wright

Sistah Girls, I love a good “steal her man” story, and this one is hands-down one of the best from the last few years.

Marcus Harvey and Winnie Powell were best friends, but let’s be honest—they were always more into each other than the people they were actually dating. Winnie had always been open about her love for Marcus, but he never made a move—until now.

When Marcus returns to their hometown and asks Winnie to be his Best Woman at his wedding (yes, his wedding), I knew things were about to get juicy.

And don’t worry, the title tells you everything you need to know. Winnie did her thing, and yes—true love definitely won in the end.

Never Want To Love Again: A Standalone by K. Nicole

Honestly, anything by K. Nicole is a win, and Never Want to Love Again is another story that I loved by her.

Kupid Love had just moved on from a shady ex and was determined to stay far away from romance—which the title makes perfectly clear.

But then she meets Crown Heart, a famous rapper, and her newest client. Their first encounter? Let’s just say Crown didn’t exactly sweep me—or Kupid—off our feet. But trust me, stick with it. The chemistry builds, the story unfolds, and it turns into something seriously good.

Chasing Summer (Season of Love Book 1) by D. Rose

This story captures the kind of end-of-summer romance that lingers long after the season fades. The chemistry between Soleil and Ali is undeniable—vibrant and electric in every scene.

What starts as a chance meeting quickly turns into a summer they’ll never forget. One thing I especially loved? The minimal drama.

Sometimes it’s refreshing to just enjoy a feel-good love story that lets the romance shine. If you’re craving warmth, connection, and sunshine between the pages, this one will hold you over beautifully until summer rolls around again.

Sistah Girls, I have a feeling you’ll find something worth reading on this curated list. These are a few standout books I’ve personally revisited and loved, and I hope you’ll enjoy them just as much as I did.

Until next time, happy reading!
