7 Things I Want Jada Pinkett Smith to Discuss in Her New Memoir ‘Worthy’

Sistah Girls, Jada Pinkett Smith has moved on from the red table with her new memoir, Worthy. Set to be released on October 17, 2023, (you can pre-order the book now) we are going to get a firsthand account of Smith’s life in her own words. 

Over the past couple of years, the world has given their opinion on everything from her parenting style to private moments about her marriage. And while her entire life story can’t be covered in 416 pages, here are seven things I hope she covers in her new memoir.

Jada’s Relationship With Her Mom

During Red Table Talk, Smith and her mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris spoke candidly about Jada’s troubled childhood and the domestic violence she was exposed to at an early age. Norris also spoke candidly about her past addiction, having trouble showing affection to Smith, and how that impacted their relationship.

If Smith goes deep into her childhood years, I’d like to know what helped to shape her maternal bond with her children. Was she able to love them harder because of what she went through, or did that make her distant from her children? Did that also make her yearn for physical touch in her relationships?

I would also want Smith to walk us through the abusive relationship that her mother and father had and how that impacted her throughout her life. 

Marriage

The Smiths have been married for over 25 years, in Hollywood that’s almost unheard of. But the road hasn’t been a conventional one, and their marriage has been a conversation starter for gossip blogs for the past four years. 

Both Will and Jada had rumors of them dating outside of their marriage, but nothing it was all just gossip until 2020. Their walls of privacy came crashing down when singer August Alsina admitted to having a relationship with Jada.

And now that it’s all out I’d like to know from Jada’s perspective, what marriage and commitment look like to her now. 

Tupac Shakur

Smith and Tupac had been close friends for a long time. Both of them attended the Baltimore School for the Arts, They both had big dreams and even though they were never intimate, their love for each other seemed to transcend space and time. 

During an interview on The Breakfast Club, Will Smith openly admitted to being jealous of his wife’s relationship with Tupac. Fans always speculated whether Tupac was her true soulmate or if they were just great friends. 

I’d be interested in reading Smith’s perspective about her relationship with Tupac now that a lot of time has passed.

August Alsina

Once news broke that Smith confirmed that her relationship with August Alsina was real, the floodgates opened and everyone had an opinion. From jokes to think pieces people tried their best to piece together their relationship and figure out the intimate details.

Smith went on the record saying that they were separated during her “entanglement” in 2015 but that didn’t stop the gossip blogs from calling her a “liar and a cheater.”

I don’t know about y’all, but I want to know more about this said entanglement and why she went for someone 21 years younger than her. And if she had to do it all over again–would she? 

 Alopecia

The Smiths were the names on everyone’s lips when Will Smith slapped actor and comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about Smith’s hair. After the incident, she spoke about her hair loss on an episode of Red Table Talk.

I want her to talk about living with Alopecia as a Black woman and a celebrity in this memoir. So much emphasis is placed on how you look as an actress and in the Black community a woman’s hair is literally her crown. Her going into depth about living with Alopecia will help so many girls and women.

Jada’s Parenting Style

Will and Jada’s “free-spirited” parenting style has always been a topic of conversation and they sparked more recent conversations when their son Jaden Smith revealed it was his mother who introduced him to psychedelic drugs.  

I want to know if she still believes her parenting style still holds true now that her children are young adults. And if she could do anything over, what would she have done differently?

The Actress

Smith began her career in 1990 when she appeared guest in the short-lived sitcom True Colors. Her career took off after doing the film Menace II Society in 1993 and she’s been a household name ever since.

Smith has starred in films that have showcased her range as an actress, and I want to know what she plans to do next. Will she do more films or dive into television? Or will she produce and write her own scripts? The people want to know.

Sistah Girls, I know a lot of us feel like we know Jada Pinkett Smith because of her cool demeanor, but I hope after reading her memoir, we’ll have a better understanding of who she is when the cameras aren’t rolling.
