Books to Help You Heal
Sistah Girls, it’s important for us to create conversations and educate ourselves on unique healing practices and approaches to becoming a better us.
I don’t know about you, but I am always searching for a good book that ups my level of confidence and helps me to heal. Healing is essential to our well-being because in order for us to thrive we need to refill our cups.
I’ve put together a short list of books by Black women that will help to transform your life and begin the healing process.
Right Within: How To Heal From Racial Trauma in the Workplace by Minda Harts
Right Within is an essential self-help book for women of color to heal and thrive in the workplace. Minda Harts knew that women of color needed honest advice on how to deal with microaggressions, burdens, and racial inequity in the workplace.
This book will help you speak up for yourself during racialized moments, how to work past triggers, and how to reframe past career disappointments so you can view them as opportunities to grow.
You are given clear action points, exercises, and coaching that will encourage you, and build your strength and resilience in the workplace.
Pressure: Lesson in Love vs. Toxicity by Jennifer Mason
Written in first person, Jennifer Mason’s book is dedicated to every woman who has had her heart shattered but remained strong enough to keep working toward true love.
This book is about healing, hurting, and everything in-between. Mason takes you on a journey that will educate and reignite your desire for your true love the SAFE way. It teaches you how to expand in the midst of a crisis.
Bonus: At the end of the book, Mason drops three gems on how to position yourself for God’s promise.
The Secret Spirit of Humanity by Zalika Judah
The Secret Spirit of Humanity is a thought-provoking spiritual book that will make you think and look at the human body and the world differently.
With the pineal gland being one of society’s hidden gems, you will be taken on an enlightening journey to understanding what the pineal gland is and operates within our bodies.
This book was designed to guide you to dive deep within yourself to align with your greater purpose. Not only will you be on a path to discovering the pineal gland, but you will also learn about the Kundalini energy and chakras that help awaken it.
Well-balanced, grounded, introspective, and intentional are words I would use to describe this book. It’s filled with lots of historical information specifically intended to reprogram limiting beliefs of the unconscious mind.

After The Rain by Alexandra Elle
After the Rain is another book by Alexandra Elle. It is a 15-lesson book on how to overcome obstacles, build confidence, and cultivate more than you could ever imagine. What makes this book so unique is that it is part memoir, part guide.
Elle shares her own personal stories about her journey with self-doubt and self-love. Some themes explored in this book are loss, fear, love, and acceptance. This book includes hands-on activities that are empowering and affirming, and they will help you navigate your self-love journey.
Again Elle leaves us with her warmth and vulnerability. She talks about her difficult childhood, painful romantic relationships, and her single parenting as a young mom. The perfect example of what life looks like after the rain.
Sistah Girls, if you’re on a self-discovery of any kind it always helps when you have someone to help you navigate along the way. These books do just that and they were written with you in mind.
