This list includes a variety of Urban novels that you can sink your literary teeth into. You will find a storyline you will enjoy if you love this genre.
Sensual Abduction: A Kidnapped to Lovers Romance by Kimberly Brown and Rosè Dior
The title alone was quite intriguing. Imagine being kidnapped and later falling in love with your captor.
Nala Stanton stole one million dollars from her abusive and wretched man. When she moved away, she changed her name and made a new life. Several years later, her nemesis found her accidentally and vowed retribution.
Ahmad was hired to retrieve Nala and to bring her home. The problem with that situation was the kidnapper eventually fell for his captor, as he refused to turn over the woman he had fallen in love with. Sistah Girls, this was a dope read.
A Justified Hall Pass by Denise Essex
The idea of a hall pass sounds unbelievable to me when I think about it. However, when I learned that Brielle’s husband had not had an intimate moment with her for 14 months… I was flabbergasted.
Now, I am not advocating for cheating; but let us be honest, though… her husband was a little more than hanging out with his palms. However, this get-back was worth reading for this exciting conclusion.
Blurred Lines: Cop Killer by Keith Thomas Walker
Blurred Lines caught my attention because police stories always intrigue me. Keith Thomas Walker told this one using his usual tight storytelling style. At the story’s start, the officer’s killing was the breadcrumbs readers needed to follow.
I liked the police Profiler inside of the storyline. This story has a television show vibe. I could see the action as Officer Damien Green’s task of solving the case became difficult when Kelli from Blurred Lines: The Monster entered the case.
Be sure to read book one to understand this edition better. The story’s basis was to catch a killer before the killer struck again, even though the killer was identified mid-story. This did not take away the anticipation for the killer’s eventual capture. The theatrical writing kept me glued to the pages.
Zane: Real Gangsters Never Die Two (Zane Santiago Book 2) by Talena Tillman
Who is Zane, and what gave him the audacity to think he was invincible?
That was the question I asked repeatedly while I was reading this story. In this continuation story, Zane and Laura maxed out their struggles from book one.
The depth Zane is forced to endure with the family drama and lack of accountability for his brother’s actions fueled book two. Sistah Girls, y’all are going to have to strap in tight to avoid getting caught in the crossfire between the Santiagos as the plot thickens.
When the smoke clears, we will see whether Zane is still at the top of his family’s empire.
Once Upon a Murder (8-book series) by Sherelle Green
Once Upon A Murder is an eight-book collaboration series about a wench’s murder as the featured theme.
Each short story builds on the murder of a menace to society that’s a wealthy heiress named Monique. Although the four accused men have the motive to want Monique to go away forever, the way the authors intertwined their stories gives each one solidarity.
The authors allowed each accused character a chance to clear their name and find happiness. The ending of each story was brilliantly executed.
Krash and Bern by Mya
Krash and Bern by Mya is about an IT Geek who meets a freak of nature athlete. Bernice was an IT technology genius, and Keyshawn was the world’s light heavyweight boxing champion.
Bernice and Keyshawn met on a collision course of unexpected desires. Krash’s reputation of having a bevy of beauties could not always go unnoticed by Bernice. Especially with his arduous pursuit and their shared attraction. Their collective attraction was too strong to allow their relationship to crash and burn.
Promised to a Street King (Dark Reign Dynasty Book 3) by Tatum James
Now you need to read Secure in the Arms of a Thug (Dark Reign Dynasty Book 1) and Secure in the Arms of a Thug 2 (Dark Reign Dynasty) tackling this one.
The conclusion to the saga was what the story required. This tale had the prerequisite drama and family issues on steroids. Here is the beef- Lourdess’s father was a Mob Boss; he gave his daughter to a thug attorney to cover his indiscretions. The attorney in question had never lost a case in court.
Lourdess knew nothing about Bishop Reign other than his courtroom prowess. She would later learn that the man who controlled the Dark Reign Dynasty was no one to coddle. The plot twist will keep you guessing and on your toes until the last stone is turned.
Sistah Girls, I gave you enough but not too much to tide you over until we meet again. Comment and let me know if you plan on reading any of these titles.
Until the next time…
